FAQ's

Why should I use a pet sitter?

Many veterinarians and pet experts believe that keeping pets in their familiar surroundings helps to alleviate the stress imposed when their owners have to leave home. Pets are then also able to maintain their diet and exercise routine, and enjoy the personal attention provided by a pet sitter. This also eliminates the trauma of being transported and minimizes their exposure to illnesses of other animals.

How long have you been in business?

Over 15 years. Dana Do! was started in Charlotte, NC in 2005 and then continued in 2012 when Dana moved to Ocala, FL.

Are you licensed and insured?

Of course! We have a business license from the State of Florida and we are insured through  Pet Sitter Associates.

How far in advance do I need to book services?

WALKS/VISITS: It is preferred services be booked at least 72 hours in advance of the requested day of service. Currently, clients requesting 2 weeks prior to services are being approved, this is subject to availability. The earlier you can book the more likely you'll be approved. We do accommodate last minute requests when we are able to.

OVERNIGHT STAYS: All overnight reservations should be booked as soon as possible (for example: as soon as or BEFORE flight arrangements have been made) availability is very limited.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations made less than 7 days before your departure date is subject to a 100% cancellation fee.

Cancellations made 8-21 days before your departure date is subject to a 50% cancellation fee and you will receive a 50% credit towards your future visits.

Do you walk dogs in bad weather?

We try to avoid exposing pets to extreme weather. As long as its safe we will take dogs for a full walk. If it is lightning, tornado warning or extreme temperatures which makes it unsafe, we will offer your pet other options like a quick let out and indoor play.

What if my dog prefers our fenced in yard over dog walks?

If you have a secure yard we will happily let your dog out to play ball or just let them run and spend time in the yard. All dogs must be in a secure area or on a leash for safety.

How do we know you came to visit our pet?

We use a pet scheduling software, Precise Pet care, so you can enjoy convenience and peace of mind with pictures of your fur babies received via email or through the app.

Will you administer medications for my pet?

Unfortunately, we do not administer insulin or any other shots, but we will give any veterinary prescribed medications to your pet such as oral medication and pills.

What happens if my pet becomes ill under your care?

If we suspect that something is wrong with your pet, we will call you. If you believe the veterinarian should see the pet, we will transport your fur baby to the veterinarian’s office for examination and treatment. In the event we cannot reach you, Dana Do! Pet Concierge will decide if the veterinarian should see your pet. If necessary, we will take your pet for treatment. You will be billed for any extra time we spend for these services.

How will you enter my home?

Security is our TOP PRIORITY. Your keys are kept securely with Dana Do! Pet Concierge.

Your keys will be tested and collected prior to the start of services during your Meet and Greet.

Once collected, your keys will be labeled discreetly and kept securely at our office for future services. We WILL NOT leave your keys at your home or lock them inside after our last visit/service.

If your keys are not available during the Meet & Greet, you must schedule a key pickup prior to your requested service. Additional visits for a Key Pickup are $30

Return of Client Keys

Dana Do! Pet Concierge requires that all clients provide two (2) keys to be kept on file for as long as you remain a client.

*If you would like your keys returned after your service you may schedule a Key Return for $30. We can also destroy and discard your keys free of charge.

Is my pet sitter background checked?

Yes! All of our pet professionals go through an extensive federal background check process.

Do you have emergency plans in place?

Absolutely. Having been in business for over fifteen years, we have seen just about everything from hurricanes, snow storms to a pandemic. We have plans in place for every situation and have built relationships with local veterinarians and other local business to ensure your pets safety, health, and happiness.

Do you care for pets that have aggression issues?

If the pet has aggressively bit someone in the past then no, we cannot provide service. That is too much of a liability issue. If the pet is skittish and maybe just growls at those he doesn’t know, then we will be happy to work with you. If additional visits are necessary to socialize the pet with our pet care provider then a normal visit fee will be charged. If at any time our pet sitter or pet owner feels that it is unsafe to perform a service, we will reserve the right to discontinue service.
